• Jul 07, 2024 Lovely unit My family stayed here as an extension to our vacation. We liked this unit more than the one we rented prior in the same resort. The layout is perfect, the unit was clean, comfortable, and was equipped with everything you need. The view is great for the price, I enjoyed my coffee on the balcony with the ocean & the mountains while my family snoozed away. The only issue we had was the first night, we went to close the lanai doors and one of the handles snapped off. We hadn’t had any issues with the doors in the previous unit, so I believe the handle was just worn. We let the property manager know and it was fixed the next day while we were out enjoying the day. • Jun 08, 2024 Perfect Rental for a Family! I am originally from Maui and looked for a rental that I could bring my family back for a vacation. The unit had everything that we could have wanted, and then some! This rental exceeded our expectations! What really made this unit stand out was all the little details. Upon arrival, the unit was cooled, cleaned and had a nice welcome gift. It included a pack & play and high chair for the little one, sand toys, coolers, plastic cups for the beach/pool, well stocked kitchen and bath supplies (soaps, trash bags, detergents, etc.), beach chairs and umbrellas, a Keurig AND coffee maker, and all the necessary kitchen utensils. From a location standpoint, it was close to trash/recycling, close to the stairs for easy access to the garage, close to the elevator to get down to the beach and pool and the lanai had a view of both the mountains and ocean. The Hawaii Life staff was also great! They provided clear information regarding the unit and the check-in and check-out process. During our stay they were available to answer any questions we had. We did have broken umbrellas in our unit, and they staff had them replaced within hours! We definitely would recommend this property to friends & family and will surely be back! • Apr 17, 2024 Immaculate! Great stay! Family of 4 (myself, 3 kids ages 12-16) stayed here and wished we never had to leave. As a VRBO owner myself, I notice everything, and this unit was immaculate! It was well stocked with everything we needed and even had brand-new appliances. The owners were communicative and quick to respond. The resort itself was well maintained and had several pools appropriate for all different ages. The older kids liked to walk around and head to the food trucks nearby for "snacks" and to the pizza place just across the road. • Aug 18, 2023 Highly Recommend Honua Kai Hokulani 214! We LOVED our stay at the Honua Kai Hokulani 214. The room was clean and had everything we needed. We especially loved having the small kitchen to make some meals, the washer and dryer for doing laundry, and the beach chairs and umbrella for us to use. We loved sitting out on the patio each morning to enjoy our coffee/breakfast with the beautiful view of the ocean on one side and mountains on the other. The property manager provided great customer service and responded quickly to any questions we had, including making accommodations to move the cleaning schedule to allow for us to have a later checkout. We loved all of the pools, the workout facility, and having the beautiful beach so close for swimming and snorkeling. We enjoyed eating at Duke's a couple of times, which is right on the property. • Jun 27, 2023 Comfortable condo with a peak-a-boo view This is our second time to the resort and did not disappoint. This condo was perfect for our family of 3. We weren't sure about the privacy with it facing the Westin, but it's actually perfectly located in that it looks at the elevators so there is not someone on the balcony across. It has a basic set of kitchen pots/pans etc enough to cook a few meals there if desired. • Jan 31, 2023 Hokulani 214, a great choice The view from our balcony was much better than expected from the picture. We were able to view both the beach and the ocean while enjoying our morning coffee and our meals. The apartment was immaculate, spacious, and very comfortable. The kitchen provided all the utensils we needed for preparing our meals. The layout of the apartment was great for entertaining and relaxing. The pools and patios of Honua Kai were easily accessed and fun for both adults and kids. the beach and boardwalk were outstanding for walking, swimming, and whale watching.We only stayed for a week and would have been very happy to stay much longer. • Nov 19, 2022 The Best Anniversary and Birthday spent! It was the best placed we had stayed at Maui. Hokulani was gave us the most relaxing place. Everything you need is there. To the point that my husband made a reservation to a restaurant for my bday but instead I told him to cancel it instead we have a nice dinner at condo. It was so nice like we were in a high in restaurant. We open the sliding doors and it was quiet. Anyway when I said everything is there washer and dryer. Nice stove to cook your meal, washing machine and 2 coffee maker. If you want to go to the beach chairs, umbrella, cooler bag they have it there for you. The sheets and the bed was so relaxing for you to end your day. All of the staffs are very nice and pleasant. Definitely we will come back to this condo and we would really recommend it to our friends. Best place for you and your family. • Sep 26, 2022 Beautiful place and perfectly located This is a beautiful condo and we loved being right by dukes. In fact, when you order food or drinks at the pool it comes from dukes. There are several pools and hot tubs. We loved that they had a beach bag, beach chairs, and a beach umbrella. I believe there was some kids beach toys as well. You will love this place! Megan responded quickly when I text her with questions. Property was beautiful, easily walkable to beach or other areas near hotel for dining & walking boardwalk in the morning or evenings. Easy 5-10 minute drive if going farther down beach or to Whalers. Beach accessories & chairs were great to have in room. Only addition would be to have some type of baking dishes/muffin pans to use in the oven as the only thing in the condo are fry pans.. Overall, amazing stay and would absolutely stay again. • May 18, 2022 Home for a Week We had such a great time! Overall, we made lots of memories and having a beautiful, clean place to call home for the week with all the conveniences of home made our stay that much better and easier! The washer/dryer was VERY handy. There was some construction on the next lot over, but my little boys thought it was great to see all the dump trucks. In fact, every morning my husband would slide open the doors/wall to the lanai and my boys would watch the trucks and eat breakfast. The noise wasn't bothersome to us at all since we weren't in the room much except for meals and sleeping. My kids and my husband and I loved the pools! The boys went down the water slide more times than I could count! We took advantage of Dukes for dinner one night and we also used the barbeques by the pool. We loved how close we were to both pools and ocean. We brought snorkel gear and we all were amazed that we could go right out the back of the condo and snorkel. We saw sea urchins, eels, and lots of colorful fish (bring surf booties). The beach chairs and umbrella were nice to have too. All the staff were helpful and friendly and we took advantage of the photo session and free 8x10 (Melissa took our photos and she was great with my boys). Megan and Jeremy were also great to work with. They answered all my questions and treated us like family. In the welcome folder they had a list of their favorite things on the island and we took advantage of many of their personal recommendations. The location is also great! It's about 10 minutes from Lahaina. It was close enough to make it easy to see the Banyan tree, and eat at restaurants on Front St, but also far enough away where we didn't feel like we were with everyone in Maui. I felt very safe walking around the lobby and outside areas by myself and with my young children. There were LOTS of families and it was wonderful seeing folks spending time with one another. • May 18, 2022 Great Family Vacation This unit was perfect for us. It has a good sized kitchen and laundry which were useful when travelling with a 1.5 year old. The bed, linens, and bathroom were also very nice. Only negative would be the construction outside the lanai which you probably know about when booking. We found the lanai not very useful because of the noise and dirt. Overall a great experience. It was like staying in a 4 star hotel with all the amenities of your own condo. • May 18, 2022 Fabulous Vacation Rental This was our second vacation stay at the Honua Kai and we would consider this unit to have been the best of the 2 by far. The price was considerably better than the previous rental which to us, was important because that allowed us to enjoy more activities and meals at Duke's! Check in was seamless and we enjoyed having the valet parking for those days when you are really exhausted from hanging out in the sun. This rental had all the important extras such as the Tommy Bahamas beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, cooler, etc. I was worried about not having the ocean/pool view but I actually enjoyed this view just as much as the greenery was beautiful and it was incredibly peaceful. The only thing missing were the chair cushions for the balcony. It would be nice if they were replaced as it would make the deck chairs more comfortable. There was construction going on for the 3rd phase of Honua Kai but it didn't affect our stay in any way, whatsoever. • May 18, 2022 Beautiful vacation rental in a gorgeous location! We just returned from a wonderful 9-night stay in 'Kamalu'. We have stayed in numerous hotel and condo rentals during our many years of visiting Maui, but have returned to Honua Kai every trip for the last five years. The property location is absolutely ideal, offering close proximity to the bustling Lahaina area and the main Ka'anapali Beach resort and shopping area, but still feeling a little more secluded and 'away from it all'. Unit 214 itself was clean and very well appointed with beach chairs, an umbrella, towels, and all sorts of fun beach gear. There was a wonderful, full spice rack, coffee maker and some extra condiments in the fridge. We were a little concerned at just how close we would be to the Westin Nanea building, but the pictures actually make it appear closer than it was. Even better, the unit does not directly face any of the Nanea rooms, so you do not feel like you are staring at your neighbors while sitting on the lanai (which I did every morning while my husband checked his work e-mails). Megan was wonderful to work with and was even able to accommodate an early check-in for us, which was greatly appreciated since we were lucky enough to catch a non-stop flight and arrive on the island about 11am. The on-site restaurant, Duke's, is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Just be sure to make reservations for dinner as they book up really quickly and no one wants to wait an hour for dinner. ;0) We had a wonderful trip and are already planning our next visit. The owners are wonderful and communication from the beginning to the end was awesome. The property is centrally located and easily accessible to the beach and other activities. The property is also very kid friendly and the 3 pools are amazing! This rental unit was clean, updated, in an awesome location for snorkeling off the beach, and equipped with everything you might need for a good vacation. We did lack access to the balcony due to painting on the first day but it was resolved quickly and I believe we were refunded some due to this. The floors might have needed a mop due to the workers as well but absolutely situational. We loved cooking at home but there was a great restaurant on the property. • Jul 07, 2026 Amazing Condo, great for a Family Vacation! This rental was just what we needed to feel like we were on vacation, it’s so nice to come to a nice clean rental and feel comfortable. The check in process was very easy and the communication from the Hawaii Life team was amazing, even after hours as well. This rental even had pack n plays for our young children, plastic kid dishes and utensils, and a high chair. This was a very comfortable place for our family, enough room to spread out. The resort was really nice too, 3 different pool areas, right next to the beach, and easy paths for walks with the young kids. We will definitely remember this rental for our next visit. Scuba equipment available for rental- members of our group loved the proximity to a beautiful reef from the resort. The only drawback we experienced was the situation with parking. We discovered that the garage under the building our where our condo was located fills up at night, and we were unable to find convenient parking after leaving the resort for dinner on two occasions. In fact, every morning my husband would slide open the doors/wall to the lanai and my boys would watch the trucks and eat breakfast. The noise wasn't bothersome to us at all since we weren't in the room much except for meals and sleeping. My kids and my husband and I loved the pools! The boys went down the water slide more times than I could count! We took advantage of Dukes for dinner one night and we also used the barbeques by the pool. We loved how close we were to both pools and ocean. We brought snorkel gear and we all were amazed that we could go right out the back of the condo and snorkel. We saw sea urchins, eels, and lots of colorful fish (bring surf booties). The beach chairs and umbrella were nice to have too. All the staff were helpful and friendly and we took advantage of the photo session and free 8x10 (Melissa took our photos and she was great with my boys). Megan and Jeremy were also great to work with. They answered all my questions and treated us like family. In the welcome folder they had a list of their favorite things on the island and we took advantage of many of their personal recommendations. The location is also great! It's about 10 minutes from Lahaina. It was close enough to make it easy to see the Banyan tree, and eat at restaurants on Front St, but also far enough away where we didn't feel like we were with everyone in Maui. I felt very safe walking around the lobby and outside areas by myself and with my young children. There were LOTS of families and it was wonderful seeing folks spending time with one another. This rental had all the important extras such as the Tommy Bahamas beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, cooler, etc. I was worried about not having the ocean/pool view but I actually enjoyed this view just as much as the greenery was beautiful and it was incredibly peaceful. The only thing missing were the chair cushions for the balcony. It would be nice if they were replaced as it would make the deck chairs more comfortable. There was construction going on for the 3rd phase of Honua Kai but it didn't affect our stay in any way, whatsoever. We have stayed in numerous hotel and condo rentals during our many years of visiting Maui, but have returned to Honua Kai every trip for the last five years. The property location is absolutely ideal, offering close proximity to the bustling Lahaina area and the main Ka'anapali Beach resort and shopping area, but still feeling a little more secluded and 'away from it all'. Unit 214 itself was clean and very well appointed with beach chairs, an umbrella, towels, and all sorts of fun beach gear. There was a wonderful, full spice rack, coffee maker and some extra condiments in the fridge. We were a little concerned at just how close we would be to the Westin Nanea building, but the pictures actually make it appear closer than it was. Even better, the unit does not directly face any of the Nanea rooms, so you do not feel like you are staring at your neighbors while sitting on the lanai (which I did every morning while my husband checked his work e-mails). Megan was wonderful to work with and was even able to accommodate an early check-in for us, which was greatly appreciated since we were lucky enough to catch a non-stop flight and arrive on the island about 11am. The on-site restaurant, Duke's, is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Just be sure to make reservations for dinner as they book up really quickly and no one wants to wait an hour for dinner. ;0) We had a wonderful trip and are already planning our next visit. It even had 2 types of coffee pots, and 2 blender options! And as someone with food allergies, I can’t stress enough it was CLEAN! The parking garage was easy to access, and easy to find a parking spot. The unit was not far from the elevator or stairs. Being only on the second floor we used the stairs quite a bit. The patio was private from next door neighbors, and far enough away from the Westin that we could never see into their condos. We could barely see people even on their patios. The unit was quiet! And the patio is protected from wind. It faces directly south, so you get partial sun on the patio all day— my hubby sat in the sun, and I put my chair in the shade. Perfect! The condo had plenty of towels, a cooler and beach chairs for our use, plastic glasses for pool/beach etc. It was great! The only thing that wasn’t 100%, was that the can opener really sucked. Seriously, that’s it. Everything else was on point! The property managers were super nice, easy to get ahold of, and very accommodating! Check in and out was a breeze. Honua Kai resort is really nice. Has a good mix of pools and private spaces. Kanaapali north is not too busy, overall a good location. The beach gets deeper and calmer as you head a bit south down the beach. We walked several miles every morning and would always choose to swim just south of Honua Kai. I have severe food allergies— so prefer to cook all of my meals rather than risk it at restaurants. The kitchen was perfectly appointed with everything I would need to cook all of my meals. It even had 2 types of coffee pots, and 2 blender options! And as someone with food allergies, I can’t stress enough it was CLEAN! The parking garage was easy to access, and easy to find a parking spot. The unit was not far from the elevator or stairs. Being only on the second floor we used the stairs quite a bit. The patio was private from next door neighbors, and far enough away from the Westin that we could never see into their condos. We could barely see people even on their patios. The unit was quiet! And the patio is protected from wind. It faces directly south, so you get partial sun on the patio all day— my hubby sat in the sun, and I put my chair in the shade. Perfect! The condo had plenty of towels, a cooler and beach chairs for our use, plastic glasses for pool/beach etc. It was great! The only thing that wasn’t 100%, was that the can opener really sucked. Seriously, that’s it. Everything else was on point! The property managers were super nice, easy to get ahold of, and very accommodating! Check in and out was a breeze. Honua Kai resort is really nice. Has a good mix of pools and private spaces. Kanaapali north is not too busy, overall a good location. The beach gets deeper and calmer as you head a bit south down the beach. We walked several miles every morning and would always choose to swim just south of Honua Kai. We cooked several meals in the kitchen and started everyday with breakfast on the Lanai. The beach towels and chairs also made days on the beach extra comfortable. The location was also convenient. • Jul 07, 2026 Honua Kai in July 2019 Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Hokulani 214! It was a great reprieve after spending the day in the sun. The unit was well stocked with beach items as well as the all the necessities for life in the kitchen and laundry room. Reviewer Comments: This was our second vacation stay at the Honua Kai and we would consider this unit to have been the best of the 2 by far. The price was considerably better than the previous rental which to us, was important because that allowed us to enjoy more activities and meals at Duke's! Check in was seamless and we enjoyed having the valet parking for those days when you are really exhausted from hanging out in the sun. This rental had all the important extras such as the Tommy Bahamas beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, cooler, etc. I was worried about not having the ocean/pool view but I actually enjoyed this view just as much as the greenery was beautiful and it was incredibly peaceful. The only thing missing were the chair cushions for the balcony. It would be nice if they were replaced as it would make the deck chairs more comfortable. There was construction going on for the 3rd phase of Honua Kai but it didn't affect our stay in any way, whatsoever. Everything you need for cooking, dining and going to the beach is there. The whole condo looks new w/ great kitchen, nice view of the property. Bathroom was very spacious and bed was comfortable, there are extra pillows, blankets etc. Unit also has a w/d. The complex itself has a fancy coffee shop, small grocery store (large grocery store is 3 min drive away), Duke's restaurant w/ delicious food and located on the beach. The hosts were welcoming (via text) and seemed to be helpful & available if we needed anything, but honestly, we didn't need anything from them during our stay. Having a well-equipped kitchen and washer/dryer was perfect. We had clean clothes when we returned home! We ate all our dinners at home and loved the aspect of opening up the entire wall to eat outside. The location of the resort was convenient to downtown Lahaina and its go-see landmarks. The grounds were spectacular and visually a postcard moment. We felt right at home and when Hurricane Olivia came through on our last day in Maui, it was very convenient to have the market/coffee shop open in the lobby!! Love the accessibility in general! We have stayed in numerous hotel and condo rentals during our many years of visiting Maui, but have returned to Honua Kai every trip for the last five years. The property location is absolutely ideal, offering close proximity to the bustling Lahaina area and the main Ka'anapali Beach resort and shopping area, but still feeling a little more secluded and 'away from it all'. Unit 214 itself was clean and very well appointed with beach chairs, an umbrella, towels, and all sorts of fun beach gear. There was a wonderful, full spice rack, coffee maker and some extra condiments in the fridge. We were a little concerned at just how close we would be to the Westin Nanea building, but the pictures actually make it appear closer than it was. Even better, the unit does not directly face any of the Nanea rooms, so you do not feel like you are staring at your neighbors while sitting on the lanai (which I did every morning while my husband checked his work e-mails). Megan was wonderful to work with and was even able to accommodate an early check-in for us, which was greatly appreciated since we were lucky enough to catch a non-stop flight and arrive on the island about 11am. The on-site restaurant, Duke's, is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Just be sure to make reservations for dinner as they book up really quickly and no one wants to wait an hour for dinner. ;0) We had a wonderful trip and are already planning our next visit.
