  • May 18, 2026 We had an amazing time at this house! It was truly an oasis and as many of the other reviews said, we didn’t want to leave the house some days. The pool area was breathtaking and there were so many places to lay out and relax. We also enjoyed the living room and kitchen and enjoyed dining outside together as a family. There were even a few games in the house that we used. Our host was very responsive and answered any questions quickly. It was also not a far drive from the airport and we liked how private it felt. The lack of A/C was not a problem for us because it felt really good at night. Sound does travel a lot between the bedrooms since your windows are open. It wasn’t an issue just something to keep in mind. We would absolutely stay here again! Kylie W

Killer sunsets, gorgeous pool and orchard grounds (even though we were out of season for most things), indoor/outdoor living at its finest - and yet somehow no bugs in the house, just a few friendly geckos. 12/10 stars, and I really hope we get to come back! The grounds were well kept and landscaped. The host was super responsive, even guided us to the property over the phone. Apple Maps took us to a different location. The pool was perfect, and the ocean view was stunning. We watched the sunset every night! There were so many great spaces to hang out in, so we never felt like we were on top of each other. The infinity pool was sparkling clean and the house and grounds were very well maintained. We had coffee and breakfast on the patio every morning. It was so relaxing we didn’t even want to eat out and cooked meals or grilled our dinners. Our host was responsive and very accommodating. Easy to get to Volcanoes, easy to get to beaches, and easy to get to Hilo. The house itself is stunning. Comfortable furniture both inside and outside the house. We had a great time hanging out by the pool in the mornings, heading out for a day of adventure, and then coming back to cook great meals and just hang out with the family. Barry C

The grounds were beautiful with recent additions of fruit trees…which meant we were able to pick papaya and oranges for morning breakfast! The location is perfect, close to amenities, but quiet and private. Very much a tropical retreat. Understated elegance is a perfect description. Being out on the expanse of lanai is like sitting in the tree tops and the view of the ocean and sunset is amazing. And we can’t say enough about the beautiful infinity pool! The kitchen is stocked very well, and there were plenty of chairs and other beach equipment for our use. The space was perfect for two couples. From the minute we made the reservation to the time of checkout the service we received was fast, responsive, and customer focused. We look forward to returning! Patience C

We swam in the pool day and night, enjoyed sunrises and sunsets from the deck. Grilled and cooked many home made meals and generally, just relaxed in this serene environment. Quiet at night - frogs, etc. can be heard - but little traffic or neighbor noise. Plenty of room for a family to spread out. Also, loved watching movies in the cozy sitting area. Overall this is an upscale location with lots of amenities. Walking around the neighborhood and property we also found lots of fruit, vegetables and scenery. Love that they have beach gear for use, plastic wear for the kids and bathtubs as well as showers. Beach and pool towels available and an absolute must was the onsite washer and dryer.   • Sep 21, 2023 My wife and I decided to book a long weekend away to visit the big island. We found this charming listing and felt it was perfect for a quiet, private retreat. The space is beautiful and extremely private. You have a view of the ocean from about 1500ft on the hillside. The sunsets are breathtaking and unobstructed. The layout of this home focuses on maximizing the view of the ocean. All spaces have views and the lanai expands across the entire back area. The main living space is separate from each bedroom allowing for privacy as needed. The home it self is oriented for completed privacy. You don’t look into anyone else’s space either. This is a perfect space for a family gathering or quiet retreat on the big island. Our hosts were proactive and communicative and made this stay problem free.   • Jun 21, 2023 All three generations of our family enjoyed a relaxing stay at Hale Joli. The landscaping was beautiful and the ocean view from the lanai stunning. The living room and kitchen were spacious, clean and well equipped. Primary bedroom was large and included a desk for working, but the other 2 bedrooms were smallish which was not a problem for us as we only used them for sleeping. All had multiple fans to keep guests cool at night. We found the traditional Hawaiian home stye which included overhead fans for cooling, visits from geckos, and listening to birds and frogs to be a nice change of pace. Beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and some sand toys were available for our use. Kathryn C

Sep 21, 2023 My wife and I decided to book a long weekend away to visit the big island. We found this charming listing and felt it was perfect for a quiet, private retreat. The space is beautiful and extremely private. You have a view of the ocean from about 1500ft on the hillside. The sunsets are breathtaking and unobstructed. The layout of this home focuses on maximizing the view of the ocean. All spaces have views and the lanai expands across the entire back area. The main living space is separate from each bedroom allowing for privacy as needed. The home it self is oriented for completed privacy. You don’t look into anyone else’s space either. This is a perfect space for a family gathering or quiet retreat on the big island. Our hosts were proactive and communicative and made this stay problem free. I give this 5 stars and highly, highly recommend. Book with confidence. Jayson G
Jun 21, 2023 All three generations of our family enjoyed a relaxing stay at Hale Joli. The landscaping was beautiful and the ocean view from the lanai stunning. The living room and kitchen were spacious, clean and well equipped. Primary bedroom was large and included a desk for working, but the other 2 bedrooms were smallish which was not a problem for us as we only used them for sleeping. All had multiple fans to keep guests cool at night. We found the traditional Hawaiian home stye which included overhead fans for cooling, visits from geckos, and listening to birds and frogs to be a nice change of pace. Beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and some sand toys were available for our use. Kathryn C

May 17, 2023 This property was amazing! Understated elegance is how I would describe this property. We felt transported to a different place…and it was magical! Bedroom doors are accessed from the outdoors, which may be an issue for younger visitors, but was fine for our family! Close to town, yet feels remote and perfect. We will be back! Dillon L
