Get a good dose of nature (as if there’s not enough everywhere you look in Montana) at the Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park, with 10 miles of hiking trails within 3,000 acres of protected land and a collection of limestone caverns. Sign up for the tour to see the largest, most active and most decorated parts of the cave. If you’re a birdwatcher, be sure to bring your binoculars.
Or, go back in time in Virginia City, a National Historic Landmark District. This Old West Victorian town encapsulates life during the Gold Rush. Ride the train along the Virginia City Shortline Railroad and pan for treasure at the River of Gold.
