  • Jan 31, 2026 We had a great time at Kona Makai. Given the price and location, we honestly expected the property to feel a bit shabby, but we were pleasantly surprised. The condo was exactly as represented in the listing. All check-in instructions were provided ahead of time, and the process was smooth and easy. Traveling with kids, we really appreciated having a kitchen and a laundry room. We also enjoyed having breakfast together as a family on the lanai. While the condo is advertised as family-friendly, it did feel better suited for adults. The pool had fairly strict rules, which is not the fault of the condo owner, but something to keep in mind for families with very young children. Overall, I would stay here again—likely when my kids are a bit older or if traveling without them. Tatyana H

The unit does have AC in the living room but not in the bed room unlike some other units. The bedroom was a little warm in the early evening but did cool down over the night. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook and make meals. The pool was great and very relaxing. Parking was easy and very accessible. I would stay here again! Brian D

The location and accommodations were excellent- loved having coffee and doing our devotions while watching the ocean! The grounds were beautiful also and the unit was well equipped and clean! The updates to the unit were well done and it was perfect that the owners provided boogie boards, beach chairs, and even a large cooler! Dorie M

I very much appreciated all of the additional amenities offered in the property. The owners offer many things that are useful for a beach vacation (beach towels, body boards, sun umbrella, snorkeling sets, and chairs)! Additionally, the kitchen is stocked with a blender, rice cooker, and many other things needed for a longer stay on the island. The only thing to note is if someone has younger kids, the grounds & HOA have a lot of rules that may make the stay a bit more stressful than staying at a place that caters more to families.
