  • Mar 25, 2025 Book it. Now. Plenty of room for my self and two teenagers. The view from the lanai is stunning and the view from just below the pool deck is even better. Condo is very comfortable (sofa bed is ok, I mean it’s a sofa bed) and has everything you’ll need. I’ve seen some other reviews of Kona Makai complaining about all of the rules. If you have young kids it’s probably not the place for you (and that’s ok!) but the rules on quiet, pool use, etc. make it a beautiful and enjoyable experience for everyone. I’m already planning to bring friends back. Centrally located, always parking comfortable furnishings. Jenn A

  • Jun 05, 2024 Overall we loved our stay. Our first 2 days were a bit tough due to both air conditioning until not working. The management company was able to replace these but it did take 2 days. They refunded us these days and we were able to find a hotel for the nights. We happened to arrive in a heat wave with very little trade winds to keep us cool. Without the air conditioning, the condo was pretty miserable. With the new units, the place was very comfortable. Everything else was wonderful. The condo itself was clean and comfortable. It would have been nice to have a TV in the bedroom or loft but not a huge deal. The location is great and I can’t imagine a better condo set up. We used the pool and spa daily and everyone at the condo was kind and courteous. Jennifer Cleary

The unit itself is top quality and the cleaning service does an excellent job. Everything in excellent condition. Everything very well maintained. Newish appliances, kitchen very clean and had just the right amount of supplies. The decorating of the condo was very well done. Just love the walk in shower. Fans and air conditioning in living room and bedroom worked well and was quiet. Trash was located near to unit, area was clean and well maintained. I liked that everything was to be separated for recycling. We never had a reason to contact the property manager. Everything went smoothly the entire time we stayed here. The upgraded kitchen includes many utensils and cooking supplies including coffee maker, toaster, blender and rice cooker. An in-unit stackable washer and dryer create additional convenience. You'll love the bedroom suite which is furnished with an Eastern King bed, and the bathroom has been upgraded with a large walk-in tiled shower. Cable television, as well as wireless internet, are among the numerous amenities included.

Spend leisurely mornings sipping Kona coffee while watching the whales and dolphins. For your added comfort, the lanai features open-air dining for four and showcases stunning Pacific Ocean views. The Kona Makai community is surrounded by manicured gardens and fragrant tropical flowers. This property has every amenity you could want! Take a swim in the sparkling ocean-view pool. Located one mile from a diverse array of dining, shopping, and entertainment in Kailua-Kona means endless opportunities for fun during your vacation. Guests will find the white sands of Honl's Beach less than one mile from Kona Makai. Less than two miles away, Kailua Pier allows access to Hawaii's best scuba diving, big-game fishing, kayaking, dolphin and whale watching, as well as gorgeous sunsets. Kailua-Kona Town has numerous dining options, from shave ice to gourmet meals, along with farmer's markets, shops, and Historic sites such as Hulihee Palace, Mokuaikaua Church, and Ahu'ena Heiau are also nearby. Golf at Kona Country Club, which is just four miles away.

The Kona Makai community is the perfect home base to explore numerous sites and activities on the Island of Hawaii, such as Volcanoes National Park, Mauna Kea Observatory and so much more.

Please be aware that external concrete repairs (spalling) will be taking place on the complex, which may impact this unit, for several weeks between 2024 and the second quarter of 2025 (excluding major holidays). The work is scheduled to occur Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. While we do not control the work schedule, we will pass along updates as more specific details become available. To help offset any inconvenience caused by the construction, we have proactively applied discounts to the rates for stays during this period. We appreciate your understanding and will continue to keep you informed as the timeline becomes clearer.
