The turtles are cared for until they reach an appropriate size and weight to be released into the wild. Every year on July 4th, the turtles are released in a grand ceremony. This family-friendly event is a wonderful way of learning about the Honu and learning about the Hawaiian green sea turtle while on vacation. November is also a great time to vacation at Mauna Lani when The Shops at Mauna Lani hosts their annual “Uncorked” Food and Wine Festival featuring local chefs and spirits.
